Some readers may be asking themselves the question "What is the point of all this?"
After all SPEEDOS cannot be implemented immediately, and even if it could, there would be a tremendous amount of work involved in changing existing systems to fit into the very different software and hardware paradigm supported by SPEEDOS.
This is therefore a fair question and I will try to provide something resembling at least a partial answer.
